For most Malaysians, Suki Low will forever be remembered as the girl who made history — the first Malaysian singer to ever win RM1 million in a reality singing competition. Her victory was more than just a headline; it was a defining cultural moment, one that marked the arrival of a new kind of pop star: determined, fearless, and full of heart.
Today, years after that life-changing win, Suki remains as warm and grounded as ever. Behind the powerful vocals and polished performances is someone who finds joy in simple things — good food, friendly faces, and the thrill of discovering new corners of the world. And for her, one city continues to tug at her heartstrings more than the rest: Bangkok.
Bangkok: Her Heart City
When asked why Bangkok is her favourite travel destination, Suki lights up immediately.
“The people are just so incredibly nice and friendly,” she says. “Their vibe isn’t very different from Malaysia — warm, polite, always smiling. Every time I’m there, I feel like I’m among my own.”
For Suki, Bangkok feels like home with a twist. The familiar humidity, the tropical weather, the bustling streets — everything mirrors Malaysia just enough to feel comfortable, yet different enough to keep things exciting.
“And the climate… I love it,” she adds. “It’s similar to Malaysia, so my body doesn’t need time to adjust. I can enjoy the city the moment I land.”
Between night markets, street food, river cruises and the city’s vibrant creative scene, Bangkok has become her go-to escape whenever she needs a break from the fast pace of showbiz.
Dreaming of the Maldives and South Africa
But like any traveller at heart, Suki has a list of dream destinations she hopes to tick off soon — and the first on that list is the Maldives. Like many of us, she has spent countless hours scrolling through photos of turquoise waters, overwater villas and powder-white sand.
“I’ve only ever seen the Maldives in videos and media,” she admits, “but the beaches look unbelievably beautiful. It feels like the kind of place you visit once in your life and remember forever.”
Another unexpected dream destination? South Africa.
Suki’s eyes widen when she talks about it.
“I’ve always wanted to see wild animals up close — lions, elephants, giraffes… all of them in their natural habitat,” she says with childlike excitement. “It must be such a surreal experience. I hope one day I’ll get to go on a real safari.”
Her wanderlust has grown with her career, but her reasons remain pure: she travels to feel, to learn, and to be inspired.
