Just about a two-hour drive from Thailand’s bustling capital, Bangkok, lies the ‘notorious’ city of Pattaya. While Pattaya is often celebrated for its sun-kissed shores, it is equally (or probably) more famous for its high-octane energy after dark.
Frequently described as the Asian counterpart to Las Vegas or Amsterdam, the city is a playground for adults, where vibrant neon-lit streets and a legendary nightlife scene create an atmosphere that is uniquely bold—and in certain quarters, perhaps not quite suitable for the little ones. Yet, this is a city of two halves; beyond the revelry, the sprawling beaches remain a serene sanctuary, offering the perfect backdrop for families to gather and enjoy the gentle coastal breeze together.
The adventure continues into the culinary realm, where Pattaya’s street food scene invites the truly daring to a sensory feast. From the crunch of exotic fried insects to the sight of roasted crocodile—a delicacy found at bustling street stalls and even served as a specialty in select hotels—the local flavors are as unforgettable as the scenery. It is a place of striking contrasts and daring tastes, ensuring that every corner turned offers a sight to remember.
