Following the auspicious launch of its flagship establishment in Kuala Lumpur last month, Smith & Wollensky Kuala Lumpur welcomes the holy Muslim month of Ramadan with ‘7.29PM’, a refined semi-buffet experience anchored by the restaurant’s iconic dry-aged Swinging Tomahawk alongside the Smith & Wollensky staples and further complemented by the comforting flavours of Malay culinary heritage.

Inspired by the time of fast-breaking for Muslims in the Klang Valley, ‘7.29PM’ places Smith & Wollensky’s celebrated dry aged Swinging Tomahawk at the centre of the ‘berbuka’ (fast-breaking) experience — a signature cut renowned for its dramatic presentation, exceptional marbling and bold flavours. Served alongside the Tomahawk are thoughtfully curated Malay dishes, presented in the traditional hidang (ready-to-serve) style, bringing together premium Western dining and the warmth of Ramadan traditions.

Complementing the signature dry aged Swinging Tomahawk, guests are treated to a selection of seven hidang-style Malay dishes, designed to be shared communally at the table. These include Daging Masak HitamTenggiri Asam Pedas Bunga KantanUdang Sambal PetaiAyam Goreng Kerabu Mangga ThaiSotong Bakar Perchik, as well as comforting accompaniments such as ghee rice and steamed rice — evoking the familiarity of home-cooked Ramadan meals.

The Malay elements of the menu are curated by Demi Chef Fatin Ashikin, whose deep-rooted connection to traditional Malay cooking lends authenticity to the experience. Raised in a family where food was central to everyday life — her parents operate a Masakan Panas (hot meals) restaurant and catering business in Kuantan, Pahang — Chef Fatin brings over eight years of hands-on experience in Malay catering and traditional dishes.

“I grew up watching and helping my parents cook for large gatherings, especially during festive seasons. Malay food is instinctive to me — it’s something that runs in the blood,” shared Chef Fatin.

In addition to the table-served hidang menu, the semi-buffet spread features an extensive selection of Ramadan favourites, including kerabusoto ayam berempahsatay ayam dan dagingpassembur, and festive staples such as lemangketupatrendang daging and rendang ayam. Guests can also enjoy Smith & Wollensky classics such as the Dry-aged swinging tomahawk, a premium seafood-on-ice selection, and a comprehensive salad and sides bar.

To conclude the meal, a wide dessert selection awaits, featuring Smith & Wollensky signatures such as Apple PieCheesecake and Chocolate Cake, alongside traditional Malay and Nyonya kuihbubur manisan, kurma and fresh fruits.

The Ramadan Semi-Buffet Preview is priced at MYR 269.00 per person, offering guests an exclusive introduction to this distinctive fusion of premium dining and Ramadan tradition.

By placing the iconic Swinging Tomahawk at the heart of the experience and surrounding it with soulful Malay flavours, ‘7.29PM’ delivers a berbuka puasa offering that is both indulgent and meaningful — where signature excellence meets the spirit of Ramadan.
