Sushi Plus, Malaysia’s very own homegrown sushi brand, has teamed up with celebrity chef and MasterChef Selebriti Malaysia winner Dato’ Fazley Yaakob to launch a brand-new fusion menu called Flavour Kahwin — a one-of-a-kind collaboration marrying Malaysia’s favourite local dishes with authentic Japanese sushi craftsmanship.

Developed by Dato’ Fazley together with Sushi Plus’ resident chef, Chef Hugo, Flavour Kahwin takes Malaysians on a culinary journey where bold flavours meet refined Japanese artistry.

The seasonal menu features four inventive creations:

  • Nasi Lemak Sambal Idako
  • Beef Cili Api Sushi
  • Pulut Rendang Ayam Sushi
  • Nasi Kerabu Unagi Sushi

“I have always wanted to develop a sushi menu that truly represents Malaysia — sushi that authentically blends Japanese craft with the unique flavours of this country. It wasn’t until I met Dato’ Fazley that the idea became real, and together we brought Flavour Kahwin to life,” said Chef Hugo of Sushi Plus.

Dato’ Fazley echoed the excitement: “When Chef Hugo approached me with the idea of Flavour Kahwin, I was excited by the chance to reimagine Malaysian favourites in sushi form. His mastery of Japanese techniques paired with my passion for local cuisine made this collaboration special. Together, we created sushi that is fun, flavourful, and proudly Malaysian.”

The Flavour Kahwin menu will be available for two months only starting 2 September 2025, across all 15 Sushi Plus outlets in Klang Valley and Johor — including Sri Petaling, The Starling Mall, Bangsar South Vertical, Plaza Shah Alam, TRX Exchange 106 (coming soon), and Johor’s Taman Pelangi, Eco Botanic, and KSL City Mall, among others.

Sushi Plus hopes the menu will strike a chord with Malaysians as the nation celebrates its 68th Merdeka, bringing together heritage, culture, and a fresh twist on everyday dining.
