I’ve been to Johor Bahru before. Or at least, I thought I had. To me, JB was Komtar Mall — now known as Komtar JBCC — Pantai Lido, now Danga Bay, and the familiar spots around the city centre. I was completely oblivious to the fact that Puteri Harbour was just about a 30-minute drive from central JB. So when I finally made my way there in a Grab, I genuinely felt like a tourist in my own backyard. When I arrived at Fraser Place Puteri Harbour, the first thing that caught my attention was the space. The decor is minimal yet chic, with plenty of room to walk around or simply sit back on the sofas. It feels spacious without feeling cold, and comfortable without being overly elaborate. After spending some time here, I found four things that really stood out to me about Fraser Place Puteri Harbour.
1. Pick a room, any room
With 297 rooms across several room types, there’s plenty of choice depending on whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, with friends or bringing the whole family along. You can choose from Studio Deluxe, Studio Deluxe Sea View, Studio Premier, One Bedroom Deluxe, Two Bedroom Deluxe and Three Bedroom Family Friendly.
What I particularly liked is that the rooms don’t feel like a typical hotel room. Each comes with either a kitchen or pantry, as well as a washing machine, giving you that home-away-from-home feeling while still enjoying the convenience, service and hospitality of a hotel.

2. Pick a facility, any facility
There’s more to Fraser Place Puteri Harbour than just a comfortable room. Whether you’re there for work, relaxation or simply want to spend the day without heading out, the facilities give you plenty of reasons to stay in.
The Executive Club lounge is a comfortable spot to unwind, catch up on some work or simply enjoy some quiet time. For business travellers and events, there are also Meetings & Events spaces that can accommodate different types of gatherings.

For those who like to keep active while travelling, the gymnasium is available for a workout, while the swimming pool offers a more leisurely way to cool down. And if relaxation is the priority, there’s a spa and sauna to help you wind down.

Even the practical details have been thought of, with Electric Vehicle Charging Stations available for EV drivers. And with 24-hour reception, security and CCTV surveillance, you get that added sense of convenience and peace of mind throughout your stay.
3. Pick a spot, any spot
One of the things that surprised me most about Puteri Harbour was just how much there is around Fraser Place. Coming from central JB, I honestly felt like a tourist myself — especially when I realised that this whole waterfront neighbourhood was only about 30 minutes from JB city centre.
The location is also well connected, with access to two international airports and five seaports. The opening of the Second Link Expressway has made travelling towards Singapore much easier, with the Singapore side accessible in around 20 minutes southward, while the New Coastal Highway puts JB city centre roughly 15 minutes away.

And you don’t necessarily have to get into a car every time you want to explore. There are cafes dotted along Puteri Harbour, while LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort and Hard Rock Cafe are right in the same building complex. For families, LEGOLAND is just about a 7-minute drive away.
A little further out, Sunway Big Box and X Park are around 8 minutes away by car, while AEON Bukit Indah takes approximately 13 minutes. If you’re in the mood for a stroll, Marina Walk is just a comfortable 5–8 minute walk away.
In other words, Puteri Harbour is one of those places where you can choose to explore, eat, shop or simply stay put — and still have plenty around you.
4. Pick a plate, any plate
And then, of course, there’s the food.
Breakfast comes with a good variety of choices, so whether you’re someone who needs a proper meal to start the morning or prefers to pick and nibble your way through breakfast, there’s something to suit different tastes.

And if you happen to be around in the afternoon, there’s hi-tea from 12pm to 4pm, giving you another excuse to slow down, sit back and enjoy a little indulgence.

Because sometimes, a good hotel stay is not just about where you sleep — it’s about having enough good food and little moments in between to make you want to linger a little longer.

Overall, Fraser Place Puteri Harbour surprised me in the best way. From its spacious, homey rooms and thoughtful facilities to the waterfront surroundings and variety of food, it feels like a place where you can slow down, unwind and still have plenty to explore nearby. For someone who thought she knew JB, discovering Puteri Harbour felt like finding a whole new side of the city.
