The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur successfully hosted Experience Nusantara Couture, a business networking event designed to strengthen the presence of Indonesian fashion brands in Malaysia and foster collaboration with media, buyers, distributors, retailers, and other industry stakeholders.

Held in collaboration with COLLABSTORE, one of Malaysia’s leading multi-brand retail destinations for affordable luxury fashion, the event welcomed around 100 invited guests, including members of the diplomatic community, retail associations, media representatives, and high-end fashion clientele. Founded in 2019, COLLABSTORE, located at the Shoppes at Four Seasons Place, is renowned for curating unique, limited-edition designs and has become a key platform for introducing distinctive fashion labels, including from Indonesia.

The program featured a curated fashion showcase presenting Indonesian brands currently available at COLLABSTORE, followed by a breaking-of-fast (iftar) gathering that facilitated informal yet productive networking among industry stakeholders.

The strong turnout and positive response from Malaysian buyers and fashion professionals reflected the growing acceptance and appreciation of Indonesian fashion in the Malaysian market. Increasingly recognized for its distinctive design, craftsmanship, and contemporary appeal, Indonesian brands are gaining traction among Malaysian consumers and retailers.

A total of ten Indonesian fashion brands currently present in Malaysia through COLLABSTORE participated in the event: Studio Moral, Aeri Luxe, Intresse, Artolouis, Kanzi Collection, Nyaman, Putri Anjani, Kekean, Nyana Nyana, and Roemah Kebaya. The event also featured Wardah, a pioneering Indonesian halal beauty brand, highlighting the broader potential of Indonesia’s creative industries while reinforcing the country’s reputation for innovative halal lifestyle products.

A selection of Indonesian signature dishes prepared by Anggrek Kuring Restaurant, including Sate Madura, Combro, Kolak Ubi, Lapis Legit, and Nasi Kuning, adding a distinctive culinary element to the evening’s networking program.

Through this initiative, the Embassy aims to enhance the visibility and competitiveness of Indonesian fashion as a key part of the nation’s creative economy while supporting the continued expansion of Indonesian brands in Malaysia.

Speaking at the event, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Malaysia, H.E. Raden Dato’ Mohammad Iman Hascarya, emphasized that Indonesia’s creative economy continues to grow rapidly, and fashion is one of its most dynamic sectors.

“Tonight, as we bring together designers, buyers, retailers, media, and friends of the fashion industry, we seek to strengthen ties, promote the growth of Indonesian brands, and encourage collaboration across the creative economy,” the Ambassador stated.

The collective presence of Indonesian brands is expected to further strengthen their market visibility while fostering a more integrated creative industry ecosystem connecting designers, media, distributors, and retailers.

Through initiatives such as Experience Nusantara Couture, the Embassy continues to promote Indonesia’s creative industries and encourage deeper commercial collaboration between Indonesian brands and Malaysian industry players.
