Malaysia’s celebrated jazz songstress, Noryn Aziz, is back with a double treat for her fans. Hot on the heels of announcing her upcoming showcase This Is Noryn Aziz, set for 19 September at the iconic DBKL Auditorium, Noryn has released a bold new single titled “Kaki Kiriku.”

A Jazz Joget Revival with a Twist

Breaking away from her last heartfelt ballad “Kertas”, Noryn’s latest track blends classic jazz, traditional joget, and a touch of Parisian flair. Co-written by Reza Salleh and Hin Ee Jeng, “Kaki Kiriku” is more than a song — it’s a playful celebration of language, culture, and femininity.

“This single isn’t just music, it’s a mission — to celebrate the beauty of Bahasa Melayu and our heritage through jazz,” Noryn shares. Produced by Moonshine Productions with Hin Ee Jeng at the helm, the single also features standout performances by KJ (drums), Che Wan (double bass), Hady Afro (guitar) and Farid Izwan (clarinet).

The Fun of a Tongue Twister

At the heart of the song is a witty Malay tongue twister:

“Kakakku kata kuku kakiku kaku,
Ku kikis kikis kuku kaki kiriku…”

“People stumble over it all the time — and that’s the point!” laughs Noryn. “I want the younger generation to feel that our language isn’t heavy or old-fashioned, but alive, humorous, and full of rhythm.”

Catchy, quirky, and unapologetically Malaysian, the wordplay gives the song its playful spirit and unforgettable hook.

Kebaya as a Cultural Statement

The “Kaki Kiriku” music video, directed by Revo with creative direction by Patt Ibrahim, was shot at Limapulo Terrace, Tong Shin. Styled in elegant kebaya pieces from Collaborate Store, Four Season and Calvin Thoo, Noryn uses fashion as a visual metaphor for heritage, elegance, and the strength of Malay women.

The single also forms part of Noryn’s conceptual album — a tapestry of Joget + Jazz Fusion, Parisian jazz, vintage-meets-modern soul, and timeless Malaysian rhythms.

This Is Noryn Aziz — A One-Night Showcase

On 19 September 2025, Noryn will bring her artistry to life at This Is Noryn Aziz, an intimate one-night showcase at Auditorium DBKL, Kuala Lumpur. More than a concert, the performance is envisioned as a personal narrative told through music — spanning her decades-long career, from her classic works (Fantasi Realiti, Alam Maya) to fresh creations like “Kaki Kiriku” and “Syurga Sempurna.”

The show will be presented in two acts:

Act One: Jazz & Soul — featuring her signature originals and timeless jazz interpretations.

Act Two: R&B Celebration — spotlighting contemporary R&B performances and special collaborations.

“This isn’t just a concert — it’s my story,” says Noryn. “It’s about love, growth, heritage, and everything that has shaped me as a singer, a woman, and a Malaysian. I want to take jazz out of the box of being ‘foreign’ or ‘exclusive,’ and let it live, breathe, and sound like us.”

With only 500 seats available, the showcase promises to be an exclusive, emotionally rich experience — one that offers fans a rare chance to witness Noryn Aziz in her most authentic, soulful form.
