There are hotels you check into, and then there are hotels that invite you to stay awhile.
Moxy Putrajaya falls firmly into the second category. From the moment you walk through its doors, it feels less like a conventional hotel and more like a lively urban playground — where quirky design, good food, music, art and laid-back social spaces come together.
During my stay, I found myself noticing the little details as much as the big ones. From an unexpected vintage icon in the lobby to artworks lining the corridors and cosy corners made for lingering, Moxy Putrajaya has a way of turning the ordinary hotel experience into something a little more memorable.
Here are four things that caught my attention during my stay.
1. Lobby? Is That You?
At Moxy Putrajaya, the experience begins the moment you arrive. Forget the conventional hotel lobby and formal check-in ritual. When I first stepped into the lobby, I was instinctively looking for that usual reception counter.
But here, the front desk shares space with the bar, where guests are greeted with a complimentary “Got Moxy” cocktail or mocktail before stepping into a bright, open-plan social hub designed for lingering, connecting and simply having fun.

And I must highlight the main star of the lobby — the pink Volkswagen that somehow manages to scream chic and classic vintage at the same time. Love it. It quickly becomes the centre of attention, with hotel guests naturally stopping by for that all-important photo.

The lobby doubles as a communal living room, complete with board games, foosball tables and cosy corners made for conversations. It is less about sitting quietly in a hotel lounge and more about becoming part of the atmosphere.

For travellers who see their hotel as an extension of the trip itself, Moxy’s playful approach offers something refreshingly different.
2. Turn Dinner Into an Experience
At Moxy Putrajaya, dining is designed to be part of the stay rather than an afterthought.
Three.6.5 Restaurant takes inspiration from the colourful street-art culture of Old Kuala Lumpur’s Petaling Street, bringing a sense of local character to its all-day dining experience.

And while you’re happily working your way through an array of choices that leave you still salivating for more, lively singers and musicians provide the soundtrack, making the whole dining experience feel relaxed, entertaining and wonderfully unhurried.

I enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and, of course, the entertainment — so why don’t I let the pictures do the talking and serve you readers a little taste of what was on offer?

3. A Stylish Base for the Modern City Escape
Location matters, particularly when the perfect getaway involves shopping, dining and exploring without spending half the day in transit.
For a weekend of retail therapy, a spontaneous dining escape or simply a change of scenery, Moxy Putrajaya sits just steps from IOI City Mall, placing one of Southeast Asia’s largest retail complexes practically on the hotel’s doorstep.

Major expressways also provide convenient connectivity, while Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is approximately 30 minutes away.
In other words, you can check in, drop your bags, head out for some shopping, return for dinner and still have plenty of time left to enjoy the hotel.
4. Room With a View? More Like Room With a Personality
Moxy Putrajaya doesn’t take the traditional hotel room too seriously — and that’s exactly what makes it fun.
Across its 480 guestrooms, the design strikes a balance between minimalism and playful artistry, creating spaces that feel contemporary without being overly styled. Think army camouflage prints, sports car-inspired wall art, peg walls and clever wall-mounted folding furniture that makes smart use of every inch, while keeping the rooms comfortable, functional and cosy.

Even the journey to your room offers a visual treat. Along the corridors leading to the guestrooms and near the lifts, thoughtfully placed artworks add pops of colour and character to the space — little details that are easy on the eyes and make the hotel feel more like a creative urban retreat than a conventional stay.
Inside, the rooms keep things simple and uncluttered, while the quirky touches bring warmth and personality. It is minimal, but never boring; artsy, but never overwhelming; cosy, without feeling cramped.
And perhaps that’s the charm of Moxy Putrajaya.
A Stay That Stays With You
By the end of the stay, I realised Moxy Putrajaya isn’t really trying to be the kind of hotel where everything feels polished, formal and predictable. Instead, it embraces a little spontaneity.
There is the pink Volkswagen waiting to steal the spotlight, music accompanying dinner, artwork greeting you along the corridors and playful details waiting to be discovered in your room. Even the lobby encourages you to linger a little longer.
It is a hotel with a personality — and one that doesn’t mind showing it.
So, if your idea of a city escape involves good food, good vibes, eye-catching design and a place that doesn’t take itself too seriously, Moxy Putrajaya might just be worth adding to your next weekend itinerary.
